Until the end of 2012, iEV electric car produced by JAC sold 4,785 vehicles, the sales of which were just after the Nissan Leaf and Mitsubishi iMiEV. JAC Deputy Director of Research Institute of new energy vehicles Xia Shunli, has said in media interviews, JAC has already stocked four vehicle platforms for new energy vehicles and several models will be rolled out successively.
Xia Shunli stated that Jianghuai automobile company is currently working on four platforms in terms of new energy: pure electric passenger car platform (iEV), increasing program electric passenger car platform (iREV), severe hybrid passenger car platforms (iHEV) as well as electric commercial vehicle platform (iECV). Here four car platforms encompass three levels of passenger cars, A0, A, and B and a commercial vehicle platform, which will greatly enrich JAC new product lines in the field of new energy and will provide consumers with more choices.
Now Jac have already been at the forefront of domestic brands in new energy sectors. Besides, sources say, JAC will not only introduce the four platforms but also is expected to launch a new model each year over the next three years: in 2013, JAC will launch the fourth generation iEV and in 2015, the fifth generation iEV will be formally listed, and in 2016 JAC is expected to launch a hybrid model.
Hybrid model will be a focus of JAC research programme after pure electric vehicles. In 2016, JAC is expected to launch B-level hybrid passenger car (iREV) which can reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h and in terms of fuel economy, can save at least 30% of fuel and can be used to meet a variety of needs.
