Pudong to host international automobile exhibition

The 2014 Pudong International Automobile Exhibition, or Auto Pudong, will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from Aug 14 to 18. With an enlarged exhibition area, this year's show will be the biggest auto exhibition in East China this year.

This year's event will display 80 auto brands, 17 more than last year. These will cover the China's most popular automakers, including ultra-luxury supercars like Ferrari, Aston Martin and refitting vehicles like G. Patton. International brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Cadillac will also be in attendance. Meanwhile, domestic brands such as Saicmotor and Chang'an will be on display.

This year's show will see a dramatic increase in scale. The indoor exhibition area stretches 70,000 square meters and the outdoor area covers 40,000 square meters. The event expects to welcome 300,000 visitors throughout its five days, and visitors will be allowed to experience the exhibited cars.

Two-night exhibition packages will be provided to meet visitor demand. In addition, the organization committee has invited Tong Vfang Xien Qi, a famous 5-member boy band from South Korea, and MC HotDog, a singer from Taiwan, to perform at the exhibition. Car stunts and a fashion show are also included in the fun.

Last year, Pudong's automobile industry had an annual output value of 140.8 billion yuan ($23 billion), 29.8 percent of the city's total. Pudong plans to further expand its auto expo's scale to promote local auto brands.
